Account Manager reporting directly to the Vice-President Sales & Business Development. Responsible for developing and maximising revenues from existing and future accounts and channels. Products include bet2go.com, partymobile.com, 888.com & PartyPoker Mobile. Distribution partners include Orange, O2, T-Mobile, 3 & Virgin Mobile.
May 2006 to Jan 2008 - St Minver Ltd, London W2
Marketing Account Manager reporting directly to the Client Accounts Director. Responsible for developing and executing external marketing plans as well as liaising with blue-chip clients (including lastminute.com, Butlins, Best of the Best, Teletext & Yahoo!) in order to maximize player acquisition and revenues from internet casino, bingo & poker.
Key Achievements
- Working with our strategic software partner Boss Media to develop the poker product for the marketplace. Key development launches include Flash Poker & Play-for-free poker products.
- Launch of new partner sites including Teletext, Butlins, Metro, Casino Red, AXXO & Bing Poker.
- Development, design and launch of the lastminute.com viral game. An acquisition game that centres around recruitment incorporating a refer-a-friend mechanic. CPA achieved was £11.
- Contract negotiations with major partners to secure business for terms extended by 3yrs.
October 2004 to May 2006- Age Concern England, London SW16
Brand Manager reporting directly to the Head of Marketing. Responsible for strategic development, consumer marketing campaigns, brand management & the in-house design studio.
Key Achievements
- Management of the brand including the development of a sub-brand for membership, the introduction of an in-house photo library and the redesign of the website.
- Developed a social marketing strategy to combat ageism and pensioner poverty.
- Planned & implemented a £300k outdoor campaign raising awareness of Ageism.
- Planned and implemented annual BTL campaigns - Your Rights Week & Age Concern Week.

July 2001 to August 2003 - The British Heart Foundation, London W1
Senior Marketing Executive, reporting directly to the Head of Marketing of a top ten UK charity. Responsible for the auditing and developing of the charity's marketing assets. The role included setting up a new central marketing team, the appointment of a new marketing communications agency as well as recommendations for development of the charity brand.
Key Achievements
- Conducted a marketing audit to demonstrate the need for a centralised marketing team and then implemented a plan to introduce that marketing capability, including the appointment of a new full service Marketing Communications Agency.
- Planning and implementing an integrated marketing communications campaign called Heart Week 2003. This fundraising campaign is aimed at raising funds to 'support children living with congenital heart disease' and had a marketing budget of £3m.
- Developed a new fundraising appeal product to be launched in June 2003.
- Winner of the Marketing Week / CIM Effectiveness Award for 2001.
Product Manager, reporting directly to the Content Director of an internet start-up company offering person-to-person interactive betting. Responsible for the management and development of core content & community channels on the website. Managing a budget of £600k pa.
Key Achievements:
- Drove turnover to £2.5m from start up, with betting traffic volume increasing on average by 71% per month. Achieved by interactive community management and the creation of innovative content within four key categories.
- Managed the main customer acquisition tool and increased conversion by 4% over a three month period by developing more targeted content and prioritising product improvements.
- Initiated and designed a reworking of the website, the betting engine architecture, and the introduction of community features such as profiles, polls, league tables, message boards, chat rooms and newsletters which resulted in a 39% increase in customer satisfaction.
- Developed testing procedures for new software that resulted in achieving a 10% reduction in the amount of defects identified prior to the launching of new product enhancements.
- Initiated innovative new partnership with www.tubehell.com to drive extra PR, which secured £47k worth of coverage in a three-month period.
- Team leader for NPD project developing new games to target a broader audience.
August 1995 to March 2000 - Anglia Students' Union, Cambridge
Communications & Marketing Manager, reported directly to the General Manager. Responsible for devising and implementing marketing strategies for all commercial outlets & non-commercial services to drive revenue with combined marketing budgets of £40k pa.
Key Achievements
- Instigated a corporate branding programme which raised awareness by 15%.
- Initiated a project to re-furbish and re-launch the catering services, supported by market research. The re-launch, including an alteration in the product offering & supported by a promotional plan, resulted in an increase of 60% in awareness and 40% in usage.
- Developed a freshers' marketing program targeting new customers to influence their purchasing habits within the first two weeks of arrival at University. This resulted in increasing revenue by 11% and awareness by 8%.
- Launched a loyalty card which increased the average spend of existing customers by over 17% and promoted the corporate brand by creating greater awareness of other outlets.
- Devised and commissioned new website ww.apsu.com aimed at increasing awareness of the Union's services and driving revenues from new audiences. This resulted in increased web traffic of 86% and an increase in sales of 5% year-on-year.
- Implemented a promotional campaign that increased election participation by 35% within the full-time student population.
- Developed, designed and launched an intranet & internal communications program.
- Launched a national five-a-side football competition. For three years I was running this competition across the UK, with applications for entries rising on average by 25% pa.
- Elected to National Standing Committee with specific responsibility for the South East Area, marketing, and increasing participations at all levels.
July 1993 to August 1995 - University of Hertfordshire Students' Union, Hatfield
Vice-President Communications & Media, responsible for the day-to-day running of the organisation. This included specific responsibilities for marketing and communications.
Key Achievements:
- Repositioned flagship publication including design, content and distribution that resulted in increased readership of over 40% uplift in readership.
- Relaunched the Entertainments programme to include more diverse customer tastes that resulted in securing an increase of over 15% in ticket sales over the year.
- Designed, developed and launched a marketing programme targeting existing customers that achieved target of increasing annual turnover by 5% to over £1m.
- Commissioned and managed a project that secured a £1m refurbishment & re-launch of three major commercial bar & entertainment venues.
- Co-ordinated a Charity fundraising week that targeted both local residents and the student population thereby increasing donations by 10% on the previous year.
- Negotiated an increase in University funding to the Union from £100K up to £120K.
- Promoted the University radio station on to the FM frequency. In addition to complex negotiations with various bodies, the project involved raising over £4K worth of funding and liaison with local media to secure PR support for the launch.
