Ending the year in Thailand
As usual it is off to sunnier places for new year... this year's destination was Thailand. The trip was mainly centered around scuba diving and was split into two parts - the first being in the Gulf of Thailand on an island called Koh Phangan, the second part was spent in the Andaman Sea diving around the Similan Islands.

Marsa Alum Liveaboard Photos published.
Photos from a liveaboard trip to Marsa Alum, Egypt have now been published to the site. First trip on a liveaboard and great to be back in Egypt. Sadly, despite the diving sites being great there was little in the way of aquatic life to be excited about. That said the people on the boat more than made up for it!

Hornets get more trophies... finalists at the Bath Festival 2007.
A slight change to this year's format saw the removal of the festival game in favour of a knockout cup & plate competition rather than leagues. Teams played in qualifying pool games on the Saturday for places in the Cup and Plate competitions. Much better as the old format saw the Hornet win every game last year and still not make the final!
Unsurprisingly, the Hornets were undefeated on day one and entered the Cup hoping to improve on last year's Semi-Final placing. It was pretty much business as usual until the Hornets came up against the ultra-keen and national league endowed Bath Rangers who, despite their quality, made very hard work of a 2-0 victory! The results from the weekend are below:
- Mixed Pool: vs. Leo Sayer All-Dayers W2-0 (Aido, Norris)
- Mixed Pool: vs. BOG W2-1 (Scott, Cat)
- Mixed Pool: vs. Random Factor W2-0 (Singles)
- Cup Round 1: vs. London Edwardians W4-0 (Norris x3, Cat)
- Cup QF: vs. West Wilts Warlocks W3-1 (Ross, Norris, OG)
- Cup SF: vs. Pirates W2-2 (Singles, Norris)
- Cup Final: vs. Bath Rangers L0-2
So another trophy for the Hornets as they enjoy their most successful ever year.

Hornets are Champions at Guildford... again!
A slight change to this year's format saw the introduction of more teams and an extra competition. Teams played in qualifying pool games on the Saturday for places in the Super Cup, Cup and Plate competitions. Once again the Hornets were undefeated on day one and entered the Super Cup as favourites to retain the overall trophy. A much tougher Sunday saw the Hornets secure the place as reigning champions for another year after Cave Man Golf failed to win their final match. The results from the weekend are below:
- Mixed Pool: vs. Spanky & the Monkeys W2-1 (Aido x2)
- Mixed Pool: vs. Rubbish W4-0 (Aido x2, Cat, JoW)
- Mixed Pool: vs. Elf Abuse W4-2 (Aido x4)
- Mixed Pool: vs. Team Liability W2-1 (Aido, Ceilidh)
- Mixed Pool: vs. Purple Nasties W1-0 (Scott)
- Mixed Pool: vs. Otters W2-0 (Gambo, Cat)
- Super Cup: vs. Tulse Hill & Dulwich Dragons D0-0
- Super Cup: vs. Oggy Oggy Oggy W2-1 (Cat, MJ, Hogger OG)
- Super Cup: vs. Cave Man Golf W3-1 (Catx2, Aido)
- Super Cup: vs. Santa’s S**t List L1-3 (Gambo)
- Super Cup: vs. Alcoholics Unanimous D1-1 (Aido)
- Super Cup: vs. Team Liability W2-1 (Ross, Scott)
So the trophy returns the the virtual clubhouse for another year and the Hornets add Guildford 2007 to their every growing collection of tournament successes.

One of the clubs that makes up the merged Tulse Hill & Dulwich HC had been in existence for a 100yrs in 2007(ish) so the whole club decided to put on a series of events celebrating the landmark. The events included a gala dinner at Beauberry House in Dulwich and a series of matches over the weekend. Most the photos from this weekend are up on the hockey website.

Canterbury Easter Festival with the Hornets
Another new destination for the Hornets at Easter, still looking for that elusive tour to replace Bournemouth that isn't quite the same level of carnage. The team were short of a goalkeeper so rather than go without I offered to fill the space - and while I didn't set the world a light I certainly didn't let the guys down. We ended up coming second and winning the team of the Festival award!
