Information - Academy (Junior) Hockey

'On the first Sunday of the season the junior club had 80 players, 6 adult coaches and 6 young leaders. A magnificient start at our new venue of Alleyn's school. The really encouraging thing is that all three sessions had new faces as well as those who have returned having attended last season.

One parent commented, "This now has the look and feel of a real hockey club and I know that my child will be well looked after."

We have worked on the structure, organisation and timings of sessions over the summer and with the aim of making hockey fun for players of every standard. The number of coaches and volunteers that we have means that we can give kids individual attention if they need it. I am positive that this is only the start and we shall only grow and grow.' Peter Berman (Head Coach)

Under 11s in action at Dulwich College Tulse Hill & Dulwich H.C. Junior Section, or Academy, would like to extend a warm welcome to any young person and their parent / guardian interested in playing hockey and finding out about the Club and this letter will provide you with some information about our activities. The Junior Section of Tulse Hill & Dulwich Hockey Club ensures provision of opportunities for young boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 18, whatever their previous experience, to receive coaching and to take part in various competitions during the course of the season which runs during term-time from September to Easter. All coaching is by qualified coaches who have been screened for their suitablilty for working with young people.

The Club is presently applying for accreditation with Sport England’s Clubmark, which is awarded to clubs by England Hockey when the club is able to demonstrate that it meets the criteria with regard to playing programme, child protection, sports equity and ethics and club management. Clubmark is an acknowledgement that we take these issues seriously and that we are striving to provide a high quality and welcoming environment for young participants in hockey.

We welcome parents to all training sessions and competitions and value your support. We are keen to try and involve parents in the club and if you would like more information about this do not hesitate to ask one of the coaching team. Below is some more information about training times, dates, kit and club registration.

We produce a regular newsletter (at least 2 per term) which will keep you up to date with what is going on within the Junior section of the Club.

Training sessions take place on Sunday mornings at Alleyn’s School, Townley Road, Dulwich, London SE22 8SU.
